A New Kind of Eating Disorder Conference – 13th Feb 2026
VOXED began in 2021, when I (Kel O’Neill) hosted a small online event during Eating Disorder Awareness Week. It wasn’t flashy, but it felt important. A group of people from different roles and perspectives came together, united by a shared interest in the topic of eating disorders and by the sense that something needs to change for the field to move forward.
Since then, this spirit has been maintained in quiet conversations I’ve had with people who believe we need more spaces where eating disorder education is accessible to all, and where there is the opportunity to listen, learn and question
VOXED 2026 is the next step
A full-day, fully online conference—created and curated by me in partnership with OnlineEvents.
We won’t just be replicating what already exists. We’re building something different.
- Prioritising accessibility – so cost and credentials aren’t barriers.
- Encouraging anyone with an interest in eating disorders to attend and take part
- Trusting that listening, connection, and open dialogue can lead to change.
The day will bring together lived experience, research, practice, community insight, and creativity – on equal ground.
I’m inviting everyone to be part of this – not just ED specialists or researchers, but also counsellors, GPs, nurses, social workers, teachers, youth workers, healthcare trainees, carers, students, artists, advocates, and anyone with something to say, to ask, or to explore.
This might just be a conference.
Or it might be the start of something more.
Either way, you’re invited.
Why I’m Doing This
VOXED 2026 exists because:
- We Eating disorder knolwedge needs to be more accessible
Not everyone can afford £300+ conferences or take time off work to travel. That shouldn’t be what decides who gets to learn, contribute, or be in the room. We’re offering a sliding scale (£25–£50) and keeping it online – I hope this leaves the door wide open for everyone who cares about or wants to learn more about the topic of eating disorders.
So, whether you’ve arrived here looking for support, for education, or something else, I hope that I can be of help. My commitment is to offer support, to share knowledge, or to contribute in any way that feels meaningful. I look forward to working with you.
- We need a space where non-specialists feel welcome
Many eating disorder-related conferences are designed for those already working in the field, which leaves others feeling left out, or “not expert enough”. But eating disorder education shouldn’t be limited to a select few. With so many people struggling, we need more professionals across all fields to feel informed, confident, and included in these conversations. So, VOXED welcomes people at every stage – whether you’ve been in the field for years or are just beginning to care about these issues, I want you to join us.
- We need to widen the conversation
All too often we hear the same voices speaking about eating disorders – not because others aren’t doing great work, but because they’re not always given the platform. I want to change that, to break that pattern and amplify different voices – bringing new energy, perspectives, and possibilities into the conversation.
- We need to break down silos
There’s brilliant research. Brilliant practice. Brilliant lived expertise. But they rarely meet, let alone work together. Knowledge stays siloed, but real change happens when those worlds connect. I want VOXED to be a space where these brilliant minds can meet, where research can travel beyond journals, and where clinical practice can be informed by insight from the people it directly affects.
- We need space for honesty and complexity
The realities of eating disorder care, treatment, recovery, and research aren’t simple. There’s harm as well as healing. Tension as well as progress. I want to create space for conversations that hold that complexity – where people can bring their questions, doubts, anger, hope, and ideas. Not every challenge has an immediate answer and that’s okay; we still need to talk about it.
- We need momentum
This isn’t just about what happens on the day. It’s about what you carry forward. The new questions you’ll ask, the knowledge you’ll gain, the collaboration you might start. I hope VOXED is can spark something that lasts longer – well beyond the confines of the day.
If we want things to change, we have to do things differently and OnlinEvents is giving us (you and me) the space to do that!
Who It’s For
VOXED is for anyone who wants to be part of conversations about eating disorders.
That includes:
- People with lived experience.
- Carers, families, and supporters.
- Therapists and counsellors (ED specialist or not).
- Trainees and early-career professionals.
- Doctors, nurses, healthcare workers.
- Educators, social workers, and youth workers.
- Researchers and academics.
- Students, artists, advocates, and community organisers.
If you’ve ever thought, “I care about this, but I don’t know if I belong in these spaces” – you belong here.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
VOXED is built on the belief that different kinds of knowledge deserve equal respect.
That means making space for voices that are too often left out or talked over in ED spaces – it means hearing from research, clinical and lived experience and including those from racialised, disabled, neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, working-class, and other marginalised communities. It also means holding space for intersectional experiences, naming where systems cause harm, and staying open to challenge and growth.
We know that power imbalances exist, and they don’t disappear just because we acknowledge them. Unfortunately, not everyone who deserves a platform will be able to speak at this event – but I’m committed to making decisions with care, and to learning how to do better.
VOXED doesn’t promise perfection.
But it does promise to listen, to reflect, and to be accountable.
